Holograph. Opera in four scenes for baritone, actor, actress, 12 voice chorus (SATB) and orchestra; text by the composer. Each leaf is described by microfilm number and is written in pencil unless otherwise indicated. Mfl. 2432-2438 : Written on four leaves of 'J.E. & Co. 48 linig' paper trimmed to 16 staves, measuring 20.5 x 36.8 cm. The pages are numbered I-V in red pencil. Page I contains measures 166-174; the verso is page V and contains measures 197-202. Page II contains measures 175-180; the verso contains a sketch of three unidentified measures. Page III contains a sketch of measures 174-180, crossed out in red pencil, followed by measures 181-185. The verso is blank. Page IV contains measures 186-196 with performance markings written in red pencil and blue pencil; the verso contains a sketch mm. 205-209. M. 205 is sketched twice, the 2nd time with more complete scoring. For mm. 206-209, only the 1st beats of the piccolo part and the 1st violin harmonies (i.e. the highest melodic pitches) are sketched. Corrections are made in black ink throughout these leaves. Mfl. 2439 : Written on one leaf of 'J.E. & Co. 48 linig' paper trimmed to 16 staves, measuring 20.1 x 36.6 cm., containing a sketch of the choral parts from measures 224-245. Some corrections appear in black ink. The instrumented measure written in ink after m. 242 is a sketch of the present m. 248. The verso is blank. Mfl. 2440 : Written on one leaf of 'J.E. & Co. 48 linig' paper trimmed to 11 staves, measuring 13.8 x 36.7 cm. The first 4 measures, labelled '1' are a sketch of the Horn part in measures 166-169. The following 5 measures, labelled '2' are a continuation of the horn part, measures 170-174. The chords at the end and on the 4th & 5th staves (partly crossed out) belong to mm. 174 & 175. 'folgt 3' is written below measure 174 and is a reference to page III described above. The final sketch on this leaf corresponds to mm. 174-178 (the present violin & 'cello/bass parts). The present violin part is here the lower voice, the present 'cello part the higher. The higher voice in the sketch differs from the present 'cello part after 1 1/2 measures. A doodle in black and red ink appears in the right hand margin. The verso is blank. Mfl. 2441-2442 : Written on one leaf of paper trimmed to 13 staves, measuring 15 x 36.6 cm. The recto is written in black ink and sketches measures 126-129, 131. The verso is written in pencil and contains sketches of measures 166-169 and 170-174, with some measures crossed out. Mfl. 2440 was the bottom half of 2442. Mfl. 2443-2446 : Written on one double leaf of 'J.E. & Co. 48 linig' paper trimmed to 16 staves, measuring 20.1 x 36.7 cm. The first two pages are numbered. Page 1 contains a sketch of measures 202 & 205-211. Page 2 includes a sketch of measures 203-204, followed by 3 other measures. These measures, marked 'b' to 'd,' contain much exact recapitulation of mm. 3-6 (both of instrumental and vocal parts). Page [3] sketches the entry of the choirs in measure 214 ff. Page [4] sketches measures 224-225. Mfl. 2447 : Written on one leaf of 'J.E. & Co. 48 linig' paper trimmed to 16 staves, measuring 20.4x 36.7 cm. The sketches are written in both pencil and black ink and cover measures 224-226. The verso is blank. Mfl. 2448-2449 : Written on one leaf of 'J.E. & Co. 48 linig' paper trimmed to 16 staves, measuring 20.2 x 36.6 cm. The sketches on the recto are written in both pencil and black ink; measures 224-225 and 205-210 are sketched. The verso is written in pencil with corrections in black ink; measures 224-229 are sketched. Mfl. 2450 : Written on one double leaf of paper trimmed to 24 staves, measuring 28.9 x 37 cm. Page [1] sketches the first six measures of the piece. Performance note written at the bottom of the page, differs somewhat from published version. Pages [2-4] are blank. The right margin is trimmed on p. [1]. Mfl. 2451 : Written on one leaf of 'J.E. & Co. 48 linig' paper trimmed to 11 full staves, measuring 14.4 x 36.8 cm. Contains three separate sketches, possibly for this work: 'Thaten', 6 measures; 'Beschwichtigung', 3 measures; 'Schein-Glück', 3 measures. The verso is blank. Mfl. 2452 : Written on one double leaf of paper trimmed to 24 staves, measuring 29 x 36.8 cm. Sketch of six measures, possibly for this work, appears on p. [1]. The upper right hand corner is dated '11/10. 1908'. Pages [2-4] are blank. Mfl. 2452a-2452c (U445-U447) : Written in black ink on two leaves, measuring 42 x 32.8 cm., both of which have been folded in half. Only the rectos have been used. The sketches are written in condensed form in order to show the predominant parts. The first leaf contains bars 178-185. Only half of the second leaf is used; it contains bars 224-226.
