Daß diese Quelle als Stichvorlage für den Druck diente, geht aus einem Brief Carl Weinrichs vom 12. 7. 1970 an den Herausgeber hervor: The copy which I used for the performance and the edition was the version designated by Reinhold Brinkmann (Musik und Kirche 39. Jg. 1969, H. 2) as (Bb). This copy, identified as (C) was returned to the publischer, and presumably is no londer in existence.*)
Tatsächlich sind heute im Verlag, wie The H. W. Gray Company mitteilt, weder die Stichvorlage noch die Korrekturfahnen vorhanden.

Verschollen.

Die Existenz dieser Quelle wird belegt durch einen Brief des H. W. Gray Verlags an Schönberg vom 18. 2. 1950: I am surprised to hear that you have received criticisms as to the Weinrich registration. We ourselves never received one. It is of course only intended as a suggested guide to the performance of the piece and any performer is entitled to play it the way he thinks it schould. I also thought you were aware of this plan in the proof reading stages and we would not have gone ahead with Mr. Weinrich's editing if you had had any objections.
