MS 50, Nr. 943

Written on one leaf of transparent paper with 6 staves, measuring 28.4 x 43.2 cm., containing a tone row chart of the primary row and its transpositions paired with their inversions at the fifth. The verso is blank. Library also has complete blueprint copy of this leaf. Blueprint copy of mfl. 943 cut and taped to form one large leaf measuring 56.7 x 22 cm. with the basic row as the first row on the leaf. Schoenberg circled all of the rows in which pitches 3-5 contain Ab, C and E; the primary row occurences are circled in red pencil, the inversion occurences are circled in blue pencil. Blueprint copy of mfl. 943 cut and pasted to twelve pieces of cardboard measuring 5.1 x 21.5 cm. Each piece of cardboard has a hole punched in the right side and a piece of white string holds all of the pieces together. Each row pair is numbered according to its transposition from the basic row.

MS 50, Nr. 944, Nr. 945

Written in pencil and blue ink on one leaf with 10 staves, measuring 28 x 21.6 cm. The recto (mfl. 945) contains a note about how to form a major scale, a sketch of a C major scale, a sketch of a chromatic scale and a draft of an unidentified tone row. The verso has two more drafts of this unidentified row.

MS 50, Nr. 946

Written on one leaf of transparent paper with 6 staves, measuring 28.2 x 43.2 cm., containing a sketch of the men's chorus, bars 85-97. Corrections are made in blue pencil. There are also two sketches on this leaf for the accompaniment in the section between bar 80 and the end. The verso is blank.

MS 50, Nr. 947

Written on one leaf of transparent paper with 6 staves, irregularly trimmed, measuring at its greatest 28 x 43.2 cm. A large section has been removed from the right side. The leaf contains two crossed out sketches for the accompaniment in the section between bar 80 and the end, as well as two sketches of bar 94. The verso is blank.

MS 50, Nr. 948, Nr. 948v

Written on one leaf of transparent paper with 6 staves, measuring 27.8 x 43.2 cm. The recto contains four unidentified sketches based on a preliminary tone row for this piece [?]. The verso contains an early draft of the German part of the text and a sketch of bars 89-90.

MS 50, Nr. 949

Written in pencil, blue ink and black ink on one leaf of transparent paper with 6 staves, measuring 27.5 x 43.2 cm. The leaf contains a sketch of bar 18 ff. and sketches of the tonal structure for bars 35-37 and bars 72-80. The verso is blank.

MS 50, Nr. 950

Written in blue ink, pencil and black ink on one leaf of transparent paper with 6 staves, measuring 28 x 43.2 cm. The leaf contains the tone row and its inversion at the fifth for the Piano concerto, op. 42, which is marked 'unbenutzt'. Following this are two early harmonic sketches of bars 77-80, a sketch of bar 81 ff., and a sketch of bars 80-82. The verso is blank.

Written on one leaf of transparent paper with 6 staves, measuring 28.1 x 43.2 cm. The leaf contains 5 unidentified sketches, three of which are labelled 'A', 'B' or 'C'. There are also sketches for bars 29-30 and bars 80-84. The verso is blank.

MS 50, Nr. 952

Written on one leaf with two staves affixed to one piece of cardboard, measuring 10.1 x 21.2 cm. The leaf contains a sketch for the chords in the second half of bar 10. The verso is blank.

MS 50, Nr. 953

Written on one leaf with 10 staves, measuring 28 x 21.6 cm., containing row sketches, a sketch of bars 80-81 and an early sketch of bar 80 ff. Four capital letters are drawn in black ink in the upper right hand corner. The verso is blank.

MS 50, Nr. 954

Written on one unlined leaf measuring 21.5 x 28 cm. The recto contains the narrator's part, bars 74-80. The verso is blank.

MS 50, Nr. 955

Three fragmentary pieces written in black ink or pencil on transparent paper. The largest piece measures 7.4 x 23.4 cm. The first contains a sketch of bars 89-90. The other two are of bar 94. The text is typewritten on the final fragment. The versos are blank.

Written in black ink on two lined leaves. The smaller leaf measures 10.3 x 13.4 cm. and contains the text for bars 74-80. The second leaf measures 13.8 x 10.1 cm. and contains detailed timings for this section. '15 seconds'--written at the top of the first leaf. The verso are blank.
