3 lose Blätter Lichtpauspapier; alle drei sind abgeschnittene Teile von Originalblättern. Blatt 1 und 2 sind aller Wahrscheinlichkeit nach durch Halbierung eines Originalblattes entstanden, von dem Blatt 1 die untere, Blatt 2 die obere Hälfte darstellt.

Mfl. 683 measures 28 x 43.3 cm. and contains a four measure sketch of the beginning, which differs from the final version and a three measure sketch of the beginning with corrections. A piece measuring 4.9 x 20.3 cm. has been cut from the last stave. This piece is affixed to a piece of cardboard measuring 15.1 x 21.5 cm. and contains the tone row and its inversion at the fifth.
Mfl. 684 measures 28 x 43.3 cm. and contains two sketches of bars 1-2, a sketch of the tone row with six notes of its inversion at the fifth, 4 sketches for the second motivic section of the piece, and a full sketch of the tone row with its inversion at the fifth.
Mfl. 685-686 measures 28 x 43.3 cm. and contains sketches on both the recto and verso. The recto contains three sketches of early versions of the beginning, a sketch of an unused hexachord for this work, and 7 sketches of various unidentified tone rows. The verso contains sketches of bar 13 and a draft of a melody based on the row.
Tone row sketches on one leaf measuring 12.7 x 20.3 cm. The leaf contains the basic row paired with its inversion at the fifth. There is also a transposition of the second hexachord of the basic row, down a fourth. There are sketches of letters along with other doodles on the leaf. There is one doodle on the verso.

Durchlaufende Taktnumerierung von 1 bis 24, T. 13 ist mit 12a numeriert, in T. 25 fehlt die Taktzahl; Blatt 3 in der Mitte, d.h. am Ende des Notentextes, Vermerk: Copyright 1949 / by / Arnold Schoenberg / April 20, 1949.
